Matmut ATLANTIQUE, the new name of the Bordeaux stadium

The Matmut Group has signed a 10-year naming contract for Bordeaux's new stadium. The new stadium, inaugurated on May 18, will henceforth be known as the Matmut Atlantique.

Following the signing of the agreement, Daniel Havis, Chairman of Matmut, said: "The Matmut Group is a firm believer in projects that help to improve the quality of life in the area where they are developed. There's no doubt that the Matmut Atlantique, an architecturally magnificent venue, fosters exchanges, conviviality and proximity around the sports field, and we're delighted to be contributing to its success and appeal.

This commitment is a continuation of our strong investment in the region. In particular, we will shortly be finalising our merger agreement with the Ociane mutual, which is well known not only to the people of Bordeaux but to everyone in the region.

Another example of this commitment is our strong support for Union Bordeaux Bègles, whose results we are delighted with.

Nicolas Gomart, Chief Executive Officer of the Matmut Group, said: "The Matmut Atlantique has all the characteristics of a new-generation stadium, with innovative services, particularly in the digital domain... This modernity, at the service of spectators, and the fact that naming is, in our opinion, an effective communication tool, encouraged us to associate the Matmut name with this place of life and emotion".

The Matmut Group is particularly pleased that the Matmut Atlantique will be hosting three gala matches during the 2015 season for Union Bordeaux Bègles, a TOP 14 club of which it is a partner.

The Matmut Group already has a wealth of experience in the field of naming. Indeed, since 2011, the stadium where LOU Rugby (PRO D2) plays, located on the outskirts of Lyon, has been known as Matmut Stadium.

As a mutual insurance company, the Matmut Group is also heavily involved in sport. The Group already supports a large number of disciplines through clubs and top-level athletes, particularly in rugby, motor sport, sailing, ice hockey, football and basketball. For the Matmut Group, sports sponsorship is an effective way of promoting its mutualist values and a natural extension of its corporate citizenship approach. Today, more than 200 partnerships are set up each year, across all sports and all levels of participation.

The largest stadium on the Atlantic seaboard

With a modular capacity of over 42,115 seats, the Matmut Atlantique is the largest stadium in the South-West and along the Atlantic seaboard. It offers a rich and varied programme of sports and entertainment. As well as matches for its resident club, Girondins de Bordeaux Football Club, the stadium also hosts some rugby matches for Union Bordeaux Bègles and a number of major international football matches, including the French national football team's next match against Serbia on 7 September 2015. It will also be one of the official stadiums for UEFA Euro 2016, with 5 matches on the programme.

A connected and innovative stadium for the 21st century

Designed by Herzog De Meuron and built and operated by the VINCI and FAYAT groups, the Matmut Atlantique is an architectural masterpiece entirely dedicated to spectator comfort. Boasting the user-friendliness of an English-style stadium, it is also at the cutting edge of the latest technological innovations, thanks in particular to a hard-wearing hybrid pitch, HD wifi connectivity enabling spectators to access the internet at any time and from anywhere, and new digital services.

On the occasion of the signing of this agreement, Pierre Coppey, Chief Operating Officer of VINCI, said: "I am delighted with this long-term partnership with Matmut, a major French company committed to its mutualist values. This new stadium, now called Matmut Atlantique, is a perfect example of an exemplary public-private partnership.

Laurent Fayat, Chief Executive Officer of FAYAT, said: "As we are very committed to promoting our region, we are delighted to see a great name like Matmut associated with the Bordeaux stadium, which is universally recognised for its exceptional architecture. We were proud to build it, and will be proud to operate it under the name of Matmut Atlantique. s Girondins at home against Liverpool on 17 September, the resistance of the gates.
