The Matmut ATLANTIQUE receives the Eiffel Trophy!

The Eiffel Trophy!

Yesterday evening, the Matmut ATLANTIQUE was awarded the Eiffel Steel Architecture Trophy in the "Entertain" category.

This trophy rewards works made entirely or partly from steel.

The Eiffel Trophies are a national distinction awarded by an independent jury to works built in France and designed by architects of any nationality.

The stadium was nominated in the "Entertain" category and selected from among 27 projects. Other winners in the same category included the Orange Velodrome, Lens stadium, Musée des Confluences, Accor Arena Hôtel, Pôle Culturel de Saint Malo and Palais des Sports du Prado.

This trophy rewards the architects Herzog De Meuron and Groupe 6, as well as the builders of the stadium: the FAYAT and VINCI groups.

Castel Fromaget, a FAYAT subsidiary specialising in the use of metal, played a major role in the construction of the stadium.

A stadium with more steel than the Eiffel Tower

The stadium is made of 12,000 tonnes of steel, twice the weight of the Eiffel Tower. The use of steel gives the stadium that airy, contemporary, uncluttered look that makes it so distinctive and recognised by all as an architectural success.

The Eiffel Trophy is the third prize awarded to the Matmut ATLANTIQUE for its architecture!
