2.9 million spectators in 5 years at Matmut ATLANTIQUE

5 YEARS !

The Matmut ATLANTIQUE celebrates its 5th anniversary in 2020!

The Matmut ATLANTIQUE will celebrate its 5th anniversary in 2020. Designed to host the Girondins de Bordeaux, exceptional sporting events and major concerts, it has attracted over 2.9 million spectators since its opening.

SBA asked the Bordeaux Gironde Chamber of Commerce and Industry to carry out an economic impact study of the Matmut ATLANTIQUE, the largest stadium on the Atlantic seaboard.

In total, the stadium hosted 27 exceptional events, generating 209.1 million euros in economic spin-offs for the region.

In 2019, in addition to the rest of its activities, the stadium organised four large-scale events: the TOP 14 semi-finals on 8 and 9 June, and two concerts: Ed Sheeran on 29 May and Muse on 16 July. These events were sold out, beating the sporting attendance record of 42,075 for the first semi-final and the musical attendance record of 42,716 for the Ed Sheeran concert. In total, these four events brought together 166,759 supporters and fans and generated 21.6 million euros in economic spin-offs for the Bordeaux metropolitan area*.

The stadium: a job creator

These four events generated the equivalent of 85 FTEs (Full Time Equivalent) in various positions such as catering, security, maintenance and the general running of the site. More than 4,500 people worked on the TOP 14 semi-finals and 2,500 on each concert.
