This afternoon, the New Bordeaux Stadium was inaugurated in the presence of Alain JUPPE, Mayor of Bordeaux, Jean-claude FAYAT, Chairman of the FAYAT Group, Xavier HUILLARD, Chairman and CEO of VINCI, Nicolas DE TAVERNOST, Chairman of the Board of Directors of the M6 Group, Alain ROUSSET, Member of Parliament for Gironde, Chairman of the Aquitaine Regional Council, and Thierry BRAILLARD, French Secretary of State for Sport.
The new Bordeaux showcase
Covered by the local, regional and national press, the event provided an opportunity to showcase Bordeaux's new showcase on the national stage, just 5 days before the first major event in its history. Orchestrated over the course of a sunny afternoon, the inauguration included a performance by the Opéra National de Bordeaux, followed by speeches by the day's key players, and punctuated by the famous custom of cutting the ribbon and unveiling the inaugural plaque.
The New Stade Bordeaux, with a total capacity of 42,115, will welcome the first match of the Girondins de Bordeaux Football Club on Saturday May 23rd, and the TOP 14 semi-finals on June 5th and 6th, in a stadium that we know is already full. Today, our aim is to bring you the thrills and spills of a stadium whose history is only just beginning.
