Stadium voted Sports Architecture of the Year 2016

The Matmut ATLANTIQUE voted Sports Architecture of the Year 2016!

The Matmut ATLANTIQUE has just won the "2016 buildind of the year award" organised by the Archdaily website.
Out of more than 3,000 projects, the stadium has distinguished itself from other sports venues by the pure form of its volume and the extreme lightness of its structure. With its monumental yet delicate architecture, it is one of the most elegant stadiums in the world today.

Over a two-week period, more than 55,000 voters from all over the world came together to vote for their favourite buildings. The winners included: Tim Greatrex, Sharon Davis, Renzo Piano and Herzog and De Meuron, the architects of the Matmut ATLANTIQUE, who this year became the first to win two awards with the Sports Architecture Award for the Matmut ATLANTIQUE and the Commercial Architecture Award for the Miu Miu shop in Tokyo's Aoyama district. However, regardless of the company or the architect, each project stands out for its unique and innovative design.

The Matmut ATLANTIQUE, the most beautiful stadium of 2015?

What's more, the Matmut ATLANTIQUE is also in the running for the 2015 stadium of the year award. Every year, Stadiony organises a competition to choose the most beautiful stadium of the year. The principle is simple: Stationy selects a list of 22 candidates, then readers and a panel of experts independently choose their top 3, which will be unveiled on 22 February 2016.
