Matmut ATLANTIQUE voted Sports Architecture of the Year 2016

The Matmut ATLANTIQUE has just won the "2016 buildind of the year award" organized by the Archdaily website.

Out of more than 3,000 projects, the stadium stood out from other sports venues for the pure form of its volume, and the extreme lightness of its structure. With its monumental yet delicate architecture, it is one of today's most elegant stadiums.

Over a two-week period, more than 55,000 voters from all over the world came together to elect their favorite buildings. Among the winners were: Tim Greatrex, Sharon Davis, Renzo Piano and Herzog et De Meuron, the architects of the Matmut ATLANTIQUE, who this year became the first to win two awards: the sports architecture award for the Matmut ATLANTIQUE and the commercial architecture award for the Miu Miu store in Tokyo's Aoyama district. However, regardless of the company or architect, each project stands out for its unique and innovative design.

What's more, the Matmut ATLANTIQUE is also in the running for the 2015 Stadium of the Year award, as Stadiony.net organizes an annual competition to choose the most beautiful stadium of the year. The principle is simple: stationy.net selects a list of 22 candidates, then readers and a jury of experts independently elect their top 3, which will be unveiled on February 22, 2016.
